A dashboard can tell a supervisor that a report is overdue. It can show an unresolved incident or a change in a measure. That visibility is useful. The question is what happens after the person sees it.
The responsibility continues below the number.
Someone still has to find the relevant records, understand what is missing, prepare the account, and decide whether it is ready to send. The number points to a responsibility; it does not complete it.
In a busy operation, that preparation can become its own queue of work. The supervisor knows what needs attention but still has to assemble the conditions for acting on it.
Give the work an owner in the product.

Prepare up to the right decision.
The goal is to reduce the reconstruction and preparation around judgment. The person should arrive at the consequential moment with the supporting context in reach.
That requires the system to understand its limits. An ambiguous record needs clarification. A consequential output needs an appropriate reviewer. A task is not complete because a draft exists.
Measure the work that actually changed.
The right questions are operational. Is the account accurate? Is the format usable? Does the supervisor still need to chase the same missing details? Does the next shift receive enough context to continue?
A compelling display can be a useful window into the work. It becomes more valuable when the work behind the display has also advanced.
